The Sint Maarten Yacht Club introduces two big new features for the 5th Annual Caribbean Multihull Challenge set for 3,4,5 February 2023; a three-day Rally for Cruising Multihulls and a 52-mile big boat distance race called the Around Saba Dash.
For those multihull sailors who want to participate in the CMC, but who do not race, the organizers are presenting a three-day non-competitive Rally for Cruising Multihulls running concurrently with the already established three-day racing format of the Challenge. The Rally will see every kind of cruising multihull sailing from Simpson Bay to Road Bay in Anguilla on day one, Road Bay to Anse Marcel on day two, and back to a finish in Simpson Bay on day three. At Friday and Saturday destinations, rally goers will enjoy organized afternoon beach games, evening fine dining, and late-night after dinner carousing.
Joining the record setting Caribbean 60 Mile Multihull Sprint around St. Barth’s, CSA 1 boats will inaugurate the new 52 mile power reaching… Around Saba Dash. And while all of this splashing is going on, all other racing classes will enjoy challenging courses mostly on the south side of Sint Maarten. On one of the three days, all competitors will be treated to an Around the Island Race that will test the navigation and sailing skills of all.
“2022 was a great comeback year for the CMC with great weather, many kinds and lots of boats racing, major sponsor involvement, and a ton of fun. The new Rally for Cruising Multihulls and the Around Saba Dash premiering in 2023 ratchets the excitement way up for our unique multihulls-only event. No wonder we keep on growing and impressing our world-wide audience”….. says Stephen Burzon, Volunteer Director of Marketing and Operations.
